Women Leadership

I read recently the book «Break Your Own Rules» of Jill Flynn, Kathryn Heath and Mary Davis. If you want to buy I give the access to Amazon to buy it.

In this book the authors have identified six faulty «old rules» women must break to take the driver’s seat and offer six counteracting «new rules» for breakout success’s interesting to think about the women leadership, when you compare it with other colleagues men.

The book gives 6 new rules to advance in your career:

Old rule: Focus on others ->  New rule: Take center stage –> It’s important to user your energy to move forward. Package yourself to be a center stage person, and build your career in that manner.

Old rule: Seek approval -> New rule: Proceed until apprehended –> Don’t wait for permission. Make things happen, and appear confident, capable and focused.

Old rule: Be modest -> New rule: Project personal power –> Learn to take credit for your hard work. Stop confiding your insecurities.

Old rule: Work harder -> New rule: Be politically savvy –-> The authors suggest drawing on these natural political skills, recognizing that being in-the-know is powerful and actively lobbying for positions is perfectly acceptable, as is being an activist for change.

Old rule: Play it safe -> New rule: Play to win –> They must become rainmakers. They must be innovative and entrepreneurial. They must be comfortable leading change in their organizations.

Old rule: It’s all or nothing -> New rule: It’s both –> Dealing with ambiguity has become a primary leadership trait women need to master. Black and white thinking doesn’t lead to career success or personal satisfaction.
